There are many films that seem to bypass making any great waves at the cinema and quite simply end up almost straight on DVD. There seems to be no pattern of what these films are about or who stars in them.
They could be on the subject of just about anything from action films to period dramas to freephone 0800 numbers, but that is not the most important thing about them. In fact, the question to ask yourself should be whether these films are any good since they seem to have escaped mainstream criticism and acclaim and gone straight to DVD?
Many see this as a failing in the quality of the film and you see many a DVD piled high in the bargain baskets at the lowest prices.
And yet having watched quite a few of these, many of them do seem to be very good quality. The fact that they have not, or only briefly, made it into the cinemas means that they may not have had the marketing spend of some of the big budget films, and it is true that the overall budget of these films does seem to be lower than some of the more famous ones.
However, there are some up and coming actors and directors to be found in these films among the second rate ones.
